 About the Provider:  Jon Schaffer  APRN 

Jon Schaffer is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a unique perspective on Workers’ Compensation and primary care. Before becoming a provider, he worked as a Workers’ Compensation case manager, employer, and consultant giving him an insider’s understanding of the approval process and the needs of injured workers.

In 2018, Jon personally experienced a serious work-related injury that required over two years of recovery. This journey gave him firsthand insight into the physical, emotional, and financial challenges his patients face.

Over the years, he has collaborated with nearly every provider in Hawai‘i who accepts Workers’ Compensation claims, building strong partnerships to ensure patients receive timely, comprehensive care.

Jon founded Hoku Injury Recovery & Primary Care to bring together the most effective, efficient, and compassionate practices in one place—helping patients heal faster and return to their lives with confidence.

New to workers’ compensation? Our clinic offers some of the fastest approval times in Hawai‘i. What sets us apart is our team’s extensive background in the insurance industry. Having worked directly with workers’ compensation carriers, we’ve built strong, trusted relationships with every insurer in the state. In many cases, we maintain direct lines of communication with adjusters, allowing us to expedite your care and ensure you receive timely, appropriate treatment.

 If you’ve been injured in a car accident, getting the right care quickly is essential for a full recovery. Our clinic specializes in treating patients under Hawaii’s No-Fault insurance system, ensuring you receive the medical attention you need without delay or out-of-pocket costs. We understand the paperwork and processes involved, and our experienced team works directly with insurance adjusters and legal representatives to streamline approvals and treatment plans. From whiplash and back pain to more complex injuries, we provide comprehensive care tailored to your recovery—so you can focus on healing while we handle the rest. 

 We are currently an out-of-network provider, but we are actively working on becoming in-network and are awaiting insurance approval. In the meantime, payment is due in full at the time of your visit. Our office will submit a detailed superbill to your insurance on your behalf for possible reimbursement. Many plans reimburse approximately 60% of the visit cost, depending on your specific out-of-network benefits.
